"Four Minutes" (7 p.m., ESPN2): This new film recalls how Roger Bannister, a medical student and amateur athlete, landed in the record books 51 years ago by covering a mile in less than four minutes. Written by celebrated sports journalist Frank Deford, the movie depicts Bannister's struggles on and off the track. Jamie Maclachlan stars as Bannister and Christopher Plummer plays his coach, Archie Mason.
"Everybody Hates Chris" (8 p.m., UPN): The pilot episode drew critical raves and some big Nielsen ratings. Now the trick is to keep the momentum going. In tonight's third episode, fists fly as Chris has yet another run-in with that scary school bully.
"Methadonia" (9 p.m., HBO): Methadone remains in use as a treatment for heroin addiction despite decades of controversy. This new documentary looks at how this "cure" for heroin users often turns out to be just as addictive.
"Making the Band 3" (10 p.m., MTV): The last time out Diddy told the contestants none of them would make the cut in search for a new band. Will he waste our time again in this new season? Yeah, probably.
