Easter Seals' 54th dinner to feature special speaker



COLUMBIANA -- Easter Seals will welcome Juliette Rizzo as the keynote speaker for its 54th annual dinner at 6:30 this evening at Das Dutch Haus Village Inn, state Route 14.
Rizzo is a special assistant for communications in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Communications and Outreach in the U.S. Department of Education.
From covering and coordinating national news stories as a journalist to being selected by an organizing committee of the Atlanta Olympic Games to carry the Olympic torch through downtown Dallas, Rizzo, a wheelchair user, has proved that personal dreams and goals are within reach for people with disabilities when the appropriate supports are in place, says an Easter Seals press release.
Easter Seals is celebrating more than a half-century of service by acknowledging volunteers and board members for their continued dedication in helping Easter Seals to provide programs and services to children and adults with disabilities and special needs in our community.
As part of the program, the organization will present a thank you to honor Katrina Morris, the 2004-2005 Child Ambassador, followed by the introduction of the 2005-2006 Child Ambassador.
Another highlight will be the presentation of the annual Anthony Vivo Community Service Award to an person who has dedicated their time to community service.
The Frances Schwebel Solomon Spirit and Life Award will be presented to an individual who has displayed encouragement to others and has given of his or her time through community service and acts of good will.
