Trial date moved back in Trumbull purchasing probe

WARREN -- A trial for Trumbull County purchasing probe defendant Linda Maiorana has been pushed back to Jan. 23.
Her trial had been scheduled to begin this week in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court, but her attorney, J. Gerald Ingram of Boardman, received a postponement because a witness in the trial is too ill to testify.
Tony Delmont, the county's former maintenance director, who was indicted on charges of bribery, theft in office and money laundering and pleaded guilty last April, has cancer and is not well enough to testify in the case, the prosecutor's office said.
Delmont's illness is the same reason the case against Maiorana's husband, Terry, was pushed back to Jan. 17, court records show. A pretrial hearing is scheduled in Terry Maiorana's case for Oct. 17. Both cases are being heard by Judge Peter Kontos.
The Maioranas are charged with bribery, money laundering and two counts of theft.
