PREP VOLLEYBALL Salem remains perfect in MAC, defeats Poland



The Quakers recorded their 13th triumph overall, including eighth in the MAC.
POLAND -- Sarah Brobeck had 14 kills, one ace and two blocks Tuesday as the Salem High volleyball team defeated Poland in three games.
Katie Winn had seven kills, one ace and one tip for the Quakers as they won, 25-12, 25-22 and 25-20.
Taylor Toothman had five aces, two tips and 39 assists for Salem (13-5, 8-0 Metro Athletic Conference).
Junior middle hitter Doni Muransky had seven points, two blocks and 16 kills and junior setter-ouside hitter Ashley Conger had 19 assists, eight digs and seven kills for Poland (6-10, 3-5 MAC).

YOUNGSTOWN -- Junior middle blocker Jasmyn Hopkins and senior outside hitter Antaya James both had 10 points; James and senior outside hitter Breonna Rivers each had three aces; and James and Rivers had seven and six kills, respectively, for Chaney (11-5, 6-0 Steel Valley Conference).
JVs: Chaney 25-24-15, Ursuline 19-26-6.

NILES -- Laura Ruberto scored 16 points, with four digs to pace the Red Dragons (4-14). Karla Durig had 10 kills and Sarah Infante had nine. Rachel Mishko had four digs and Christy Mickel had 23 assists.
Late Monday
Warren Harding 25-19, 25-25, Champion 21-25-19-17
WARREN -- Bre Carpenter had 25 digs, Jasmine Stringer had 10 points and 15 kills and Morgan Dowell had four aces, five blocks and 12 kills for Harding (7-8).
For Champion (0-12), Katey Gelet had 10 points, Haley York had seven kills and six blocks and Chentel Greathouse had 12 assists and three digs.
JVs: Harding 25-20, 25-18.
Federal League Tournament
UNIONTOWN-- Jackson High is the top seed for the Federal League's volleyball tournament on Saturday at Lake High School.
Jackson earned the No. 1 seed by virtue of its 6-1 league record. Second-seed is Hoover (5-2) while No. 3 Fitch and No. 4 Lake are both 4-3.
The Falcons got the edge because of its previous victory over Lake.
Boardman is fifth-seeded with a 3-4 record. GlenOak, Perry and McKinley are 2-5.
In the first-round pairings starting at 9 a.m., Jackson plays McKinley, Lake plays Boardman, Fitch meets GlenOak and Hoover takes on Perry.
