HIGH SCHOOL GOLF Cene fires 68 to lead Ursuline to berth in state tournament

RAVENNA -- Ursuline High School's Paul Cene, Jake Detec, Ryan Spear, Zach Humphries and Jeff Dean have qualified for the Division II state golf tournament at Lockbourne's Foxfire golf course.
Cene shot 68 to lead the Irish to fourth place with 317 points in the district tournament Tuesday at Windmill Lakes golf course. Detec carded 81, Spear 82, Humphries 86 and Dean 87.
Jonathan Hamarik (69) of Mooney and Randall Crowe (75) of West Branch were among the four individuals not on a qualifying team who qualified for state.
Girls
HUBBARD -- Canfield High's girls golf team shot 376 to win the sectional tournament Tuesday at Pine Lakes golf course.
The Cardinals, Howland, Warren JFK and Ursuline advanced to next week's district tournament in Massillon.
Jennifer Hudock, sophomore, fired 88 to spark the Cardinals to the title with 376 points.
Katie Jurenovich carded 78 for second-place Howland, which scored 382 points.
Katie Rogner shot 76 to lead third place Warren JFK, which scored 386 points.
Christina Vitullo carded 92 for fourth place Ursuline, which had 387 points.
Individuals, not on a qualifying team, who advanced to district were Laura Nochta, Lakeview, 75; Ariel Witmer, South Range, 81; Von Goll, Salem, 82 and Katlyn Pero, Hubbard, 88.
