Hearings continued for 3 football coaches

NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The preliminary hearings for three Pop Warner football coaches accused of cursing and shouting at referees during a game have been continued to Oct. 19.
Fred Smith, 33, Corey Eggleston, 35, and Nelek Mitchell, 30, all of New Castle, are all charged with disorderly conduct and failure to disperse. Smith also faces a charge of resisting arrest and obstructing the administration of law.
The men were attending a Sept. 24 game of the New Castle Central Hurricanes, part of a football league for 10- and 11-year-olds, when the game was called because Eggleston went on the field to get his son. Police said Eggleston was arrested after shouting and cursing in front of children. Smith is accused of grabbing an officer who tried to subdue Eggleston, and Mitchell was arrested across the street from the football stadium after an altercation with police officers.
