Community development grants to benefit Mercer Co. programs



MERCER, Pa. -- The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development has awarded $114,000 in Community Revitalization grants for the following programs:
UThe Children's Aid Society will get $47,215 to replace the roof on its main office building on Market Street in Mercer. The agency provides services countywide for children and families.
UThe Mercer County Grange Fair is getting $15,000 to repair the pulling track, buy a new section of bleachers and a new public address system for the fairgrounds.
UThe Community Counseling Center of Mercer County is getting $15,000 to renovate a former grocery store on state Route 62 in Hermitage to use as its headquarters.
UThe Hermitage School District is getting $5,000 to buy three treadmills to expand its PACE Express fitness program -- an effort to combat childhood obesity.
UBuhl Farm Park will get $20,000 to build a maintenance equipment storage building.
UClark Borough will get $6,000 to buy and install new steel and aluminum doors in the borough building which will make it accessible to the handicapped.
UThe Mercer County Historical Society will get $6,000 for the Mercer County Sports Hall of Fame display and to preserve sports memorabilia related to athletes and coaches of Mercer County.
