Women are interested in new paint job
It was inevitable. After years of glossy, barely there lips and pinched cheeks, beauty people are pumping up the made-up look. The casual natural look is out. The Hollywood glamour queen is the new inspiration.
Think of the polished dramatic face in '50s films as a model, the New York Times reports. According to the fall runway shows, it's all about jewel-tone lipsticks and liquid eyeliners now moving into the stores.
People are weary of messy makeup, executive Bobbi Brown told the Times. The just-out-of-bed image no longer works.
Sonia Kashuk, the artist whose line is carried by Target stores, says you have to balance the eyes, lips and cheeks so you won't look overdone.
Cosmetics companies are offering a range of eye products, including the liquid eyeliner. Artists suggest you can either apply it along the upper lash line for a Hollywood eye or, for a smoky look, smudge it along the upper and lower lashes. The look also requires a powdery foundation and matte lip colors. And darker colors are emerging for lips and nails.
But caution is advised.
You don't have to wear dark lips, smudged eyes, deep blush and gothic nails all at once.
