Man is charged in felony DUI

AUSTINTOWN -- A Lisbon man has been charged with his sixth DUI since 1990 and is facing a felony charge.
Michael Spencer, 44, of state Route 517, was arrested after a hit-and-run accident on Mahoning Avenue near South Navarre Avenue on Wednesday evening. The report, which was not made public until Monday, did not note the details of the accident.
A witness to the hit-and-run helped an Austintown police officer trace Spencer's green pickup truck to Mahoning Avenue and Meridian Road, where the officer stopped Spencer, according to a police report.
The report said Spencer was driving impaired and with a suspended license.
Police found he had five previous operating-a-vehicle-while-impaired convictions.
Spencer appeared for arraignment Thursday in County Court, where his pretrial was set for Oct. 17 at 2:30. He is free on bond, according to the court.
