Burke snaps tie, delivers Mooney past Laurel

STRUTHERS -- Senior Kelly Burke scored a goal with from 12 yards out to snap a 1-1 tie Saturday and give the Mooney High girls soccer team a 2-1 win over Shaker Heights Laurel.
Laurel (8-2) took a 1-0 lead at the half but Mooney senior Marisa Simon knotted it at 1.
Then, with about 20 minutes to play, Burke took a pass from Kelli Willis and gave Mooney (8-2-1) the lead.
Mooney goalie Natalie Humphries had two saves.
Badger 7, Liberty 0
LIBERTY -- Shannon Sudon, Hannah Miller and Jenna Miller had two goals apiece while Cayla Arnold added another for Badger, which built on a 2-0 halftime lead.
Sudon and Arnold had two assists apiece while Hannah Miller and Taylor Phillips each had one assist for Badger (6-5).
Liberty goalkeeper Michelle Dykes made 15 saves while Katy Dvorak had five stops for the winners.
Ursuline 3, New Wilmington 2
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Hannah Snyder scored two goals, while Katelyn Tondo-Steele had one for the Irish, who battled back from a 1-0 halftime deficit.
Snyder, Tondo-Steele, Liz Engler and Mandie Laneve had assists for Ursuline (6-4-3).
For New Wilmington (6-3-1), Shanay Phillian and Staci Wilson had the goals while Katie Ratvaskey had an assist for the Greyhounds.
Wilmington goalkeeper Kara Kendall had 18 saves, while Ursuline goalkeepers Jolanta Carkido and Leann Jordon stopped 10 shots and two shots, respectively.
Boys
YOUNGSTOWN -- Nick Clowes scored two goals and added one assist to lead Ursuline (8-3-1) over Canfield, 3-2, at Wick Recreation Area.
Vlad Lungu had the other goal for the Irish while Justin Mihaly contributed two assists.
Goalkeeper Airic Puhalla made 11 saves for Ursuline.
For Canfield, David Kanotz and Pete Johnson each registered one goal while Nick Benedetto and Kyle Reese added one assist apiece.
Eric Klayton had 16 saves for the Cardinals.

Maplewood 3, Mathews 2
VIENNA -- Ryan Bell scored two goals and Chad Spring had one in the second half for the Rockets (3-6). Goalkeeper Tyler Perkins made four saves.
For the Mustangs (1-9, 1-5 Northeastern Athletic Conference), Brittany Seman scored both goals. Goalkeeper Brett Ford made 27 saves.
