Penguins vs. Redbirds
Streak continues: YSU senior wide receiver Kyle Smith, who sat out last week's game at Pitt with an injury, came back to catch a game-high seven passes for 97 yards and a touchdown which extended his consecutive game streak of catching a pass to 26, two short of the school record.
Terry shines: Sophomore linebacker James Terry had a career game against the Redbirds coming up with 13 tackles, eight of them solo hits, he also had two tackles for losses and was all over Redbirds quarterback Luke Drone. The Penguins defense finished with four interceptions, four pass breakups and two forced fumbles on the night.
Offensive star: Junior Marcus Mason, who led the Penguins in rushing with 126 yards on 27 carries and one touchdown, also returned two kickoffs for 64 yards, the longest being 39 yards. The next leading rusher for the Penguins was Justin Reams with eight yards on four carries.
Next up: The Penguins will go back on the road next week when they travel to Terre Haute, Ind., to meet Indiana State Sycamores in a 2 p.m. kickoff in another Gateway Conference matchup.
