YOUNGSTOWN Baptist Pastors' Council plans to install officers

More than 25 pastors and associate ministers are involved in the council.
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Baptist Pastors' Council of Youngstown & amp; Vicinity will install officers during a service scheduled for 6:45 p.m. Oct. 9 at New Hope Baptist Church, 437 Albert St.
The Rev. Lewis W. Macklin II, senior pastor of Holy Trinity Baptist Church and council immediate past president, will be the speaker. Ministers James Ferguson of Tabernacle Baptist Church and Cynthia Wright-Palmer of Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church will serve as psalmist.
Officers are the Rev. J. Dwayne Heard, president, of Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church; the Rev. Kevin Crum, vice president, of New Hope; the Rev. Julius Davis, second vice president, of Friendship Baptist Church, Girard; the Rev. Terry S. Bolds, treasurer, of Rising Star Baptist Church; the Rev. Harold Logan, recording secretary, of Beulah Baptist Church; the Rev. Mr. Macklin, assistant recording secretary, Holy Trinity; the Rev. Kenneth Simon, financial secretary, New Bethel Baptist Church; the Rev. Willie Peterson, corresponding secretary, New Birth Community Church; the Rev. C.M. Jenkins, chaplain, Greater Friendship Baptist Church; and the Rev. Ernest Ellis, public relations director, Antioch Baptist Church.
The council involves more than 25 area pastors and associate ministers, representing numerous congregations and exceeding more than 5,000 parishioners.
Its purpose is to promote fellowship and unity among faith colleagues, while working to improve the quality of life and its conditions civilly, economically and spiritually in the Mahoning Valley.
The council co-sponsors the American Baptist College, Youngstown Extension Unit, which is headquartered in Nashville, Tenn. It is establishing a scholarship named Martin Luther King Testament of Hope that will provide funds for students attending Youngstown State University and the ABC extension unit. The council also educates the community regarding HIV/AIDS prevention.
