Fall Nature Paddle: Participants should take their canoes and kayaks to McDanel's Launch on the North Shore for an outing planned from 11 a.m.-noon Saturday to see the natural features of the lake and hear the history of Moraine State Park.Muddy Creek Oil Well Exhibit: Demonstration days are scheduled from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and next Sunday at Moraine. Volunteers will be on site as tour guides. To get to the oil well field site, take Old Route 422 (Park Road) west from the Prospect interchange of Route 422 and 528 and proceed about a half mile beyond the DCNR Regional Park Office and boat launch parking lot.Mushroom Walk: Gail Blakely, a member of regional and national mycological associations who has studied mushrooms for 30 years, will present a program and lead a walk focusing on identifying wild mushrooms from 1-2:30 p.m. Oct. 15 at McConnells Mill Kildoor Picnic Area. Fall Foliage Discovery: A park naturalist will lead a program from 4-5:15 p.m. Oct. 15 starting at McConnells Mill Park office and going to Cleland Rock, which is one of the state's scenic vantage points. Participants will learn how and why leaves change, what determines their color and the geology of Slippery Rock Creek Gorge.Cemeteries of Moraine State Park: A park naturalist will lead a driving tour from 1-3:30 p.m. Oct. 22 of burial sites that include from one to 20 graves. Among stops will be sites of tombstones from the War of 1812, Civil War and large family plots. Participants should meet at the Moraine park office on the South Shore.
