"Pasadena" (7 p.m., SoapNet): Four seasons before murder and mayhem broke out on Wisteria Lane, Fox network offered a dark mystery-soap called "Pasadena." Alas, it was canceled after only four of 13 episodes aired. Now the series is getting another chance on cable, where the entire run will be shown. Dana Delany and Alison Lohman star.
"The Manchurian Candidate" (7 p.m., Showtime): Updating a well-known Cold War-era political thriller that starred Frank Sinatra, director Jonathan Demme set this 2004 movie during the Gulf War to good effect. The cast is led by Denzel Washington and features Meryl Streep (who won a Golden Globe Award), Jon Voight and Liev Schreiber.
"Chicago" (8 p.m., NBC): This 2002 movie version of the Broadway musical won six Oscars, including best picture and best actress (for Catherine Zeta-Jones). Set in the 1920s, it's a show-biz tale of ambition and murder. Also starring are Renee Zellweger, Richard Gere, Queen Latifah and Christine Baranski.
"Toolbox Murders" (8 p.m., Encore): Encore will be spending each night in October preparing for Halloween with "Fear Fest: 31 Nights of Horror." The scares start tonight with the TV premiere of this 2004 movie from director Tobe Hooper. It takes place at a vintage hotel in Hollywood where a long-dormant evil force is awakened when renovations begin.
