WESTMINSTER
Sophomore forward Keith Little (Ursuline) scored an insurance goal for the Westminster soccer team against Pitt-Greensburg in a recent home match, to help the Titans post a 4-2 win. It was Little's first goal of the season. Junior Alex Castillo (Austintown Fitch) had his first assist of the season on Andy Saporito's goal. In Westminster's next match, Little had an assist in the Titans' 3-0 win over Grove City in PAC play. Through eight matches, Little has one goal and two assists for four points with 11 shots taken, while Castillo has one point on his assist as Westminster posted a 5-3 record, including 1-1 in the PAC.
In women's soccer, junior Christa Adamasaris (Champion) had an assist on Jessica Losteter's goal to help Westminster to a 4-0 win over Pitt-Greensburg.
Through eight matches, Adamasaris has two goals and two assists for six points with 10 shots taken, helping the Lady Titans to a 6-2 record, including 1-0 in the PAC. Five other area players are on the Westminster team: sophomore midfielder Brittany McKeee (Hubbard), freshman midfielder Christina Adams (Hubbard), sophomore midfielder Jessica Kausits (Ursuline), freshman forward Sandell Raines (Mohawk) and freshman forward Allyson Neff (Neshannock). Adams one goal and one assist for three points with 15 shots taken, while McKee has one goal for two points with two shots. Kausits has taken five shots, Raines two and Neff one shot.
In volleyball, junior middle hitter Katie McDermott (Austintown Fitch) had a team-high 11 kills while senior outside hitter Erin Hinks added 10 and sophomore Diana Conzett (Hubbard) seven to help the Titans sweep Lake Erie at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational. Westminster posted a 2-2 record in the meet for a 10-8 overall record. Conzett had seven kills while junior setter Rachael Cooper (Laurel) had 20 assists in the Titans' loss to Ohio Wesleyan. Hinks had a team-best 14 kills and sophomore middle hitter Jessica Cooper (Laurel) 10 with two solo blocks while Rachael Cooper had 23 assists as Westminster beat Bluffton. And Hinks had a season-best 22 kills while McDermott and Jessica Cooper each added 11 and three blocks and Rachael Cooper 30 assists, as the Titans bowed to Hanover. Westminster placed sixth out of 10 teams in the meet.
Other area players on the Titans' team are sophomore outside hitter Jenna Hinks (Mineral Ridge) and freshman Kylene Hoch (Hubbard).
MOUNT UNION
Ryan Petruska (Ursuline) is a senior defender and letter winner with the Mount Union College soccer team. Through the Purple Raiders' first eight games (5-3 record), Petruska has scored one goal for two points with five shots taken. He has played in all eight games.
In women's soccer, sophomore forward Kelly Croysdale (Austintown Fitch) is the second-leading scorer on the team. Through nine games (6-3 record), Croysdale has scored five points on two goals and one assist with 13 shots. Junior midfielder Sarah Payne (Salem), a two-year letter-winner, has taken nine shots but has no points. Other area players on the roster are senior defender Kristy Croysdale (Austintown Fitch), a three-year letter-winner; sophomore defender Jenny Singleton (Boardman) and sophomore midfielder Elizabeth Connor (East Liverpool), each with one letter; and freshman midfielder Ashley Shea Sutton (Salem). All six area players have played in all nine games.
DENISON
Brian Gilson (Warren JFK), a junior on the Denison College cross country team, placed third at the recent GLCA Championships to improve greatly on his 15th-place finish in 2004. Gilson was clocked in 27:00.00 this year. He also placed 26th out of 108 runners in 26:29.10 at the recent Cedarville Invitational.
OTTERBEIN
James Rook (Lordstown) and Tim Weaver (Boardman) are members of the Otterbein College cross country team. Rook is a sophomore, Weaver a freshman. Both runners competed in the Friendship Invitational at Cedarville and the Otterbein Invitational, as the Cardinals placed second out of nine teams in both meets. Rook was 27th (28:19.7) and Weaver 57th (29:51.7) in the Otterbein Invitational. And Rook was 63rd (28:06.18) and Weaver 69th (28:15.26) at the Cedarville Invitational. Weaver is the son of Kathleen and Craig Weaver.
THIEL
Jacci Corso (Poland) is a senior member of the Thiel College women's cross country team. Corso placed 40th in the Allegheny Classic in 29:30 over the 6-kilometer course, as Thiel finished third out of three teams. Also on the Thiel roster is junior Kristy Marapese (Struthers).
