Adoption Services to sponsor open house

LISBON -- Northeast Ohio Adoption Services, 5000 E. Market St., Warren, will sponsor an informal open house from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Community Action Agency, 7880 Lincoln Place.
The event is geared to singles and couples considering adopting a school-age child or becoming a foster parent.
Information packets will be available, and those attending will have the chance to speak with staff members. Participants can learn about the needs of children in the child welfare system and hear about various opportunities. NOAS does not charge fees for adoption.
In Ohio, there are 6,000 children, mostly school-age, waiting for a permanent family. Adults older than 21 are eligible to adopt, and there is no upper age limit. Adoptive parents may live in a home, mobile home, apartment or condo, and they may either own or rent. Adoptive parents need a stable but not necessarily high income.
