Ballot recount petitions due Monday at 4

NEW CASTLE, Pa.-- Candidates who want to challenge results of the Nov. 8 general election have only until 4 p.m. Monday to file petitions for ballot recounts.
The Lawrence County Return Board presented the results of its audit of the elections results to the county elections board at a meeting Tuesday. Elections officials signed the election results books and, if none of those results are challenged, they will be certified as official.
Once the books are signed, candidates have five days to challenge the results. But because the fifth day falls on Sunday, the candidates have until 4 p.m. Monday to file petitions for recounts. Those petitions must be filed in the prothonotary's office.
