Top-ranked Coldwater too tough

DAYTON -- Ross Homan rushed for 141 and three touchdowns to lead Coldwater to a 35-0 win over Lemon-Monroe in Saturday night's Division IV state semifinal.
Saturday morning, Coldwater, the top-ranked team in Div. IV, will play Mooney for the state championship at Canton's Fawcett Stadium.
Homan's scores came on runs of 1, 4, and 23 yards. Coldwater's (14-0) Steve Borger also completed 11 of 18 passes for 188 yards and a touchdown, a 43-yarder to Brady Geier in the third.
Lemon-Monroe (12-2) had a chance to score in the final seconds of the first half, but Tad Kilburn missed a 26-yard field goal attempt. Lemon-Monroe was held to just 71 total yards.
Div. VI
CANTON -- J.J. Kuczynski scored on a 4-yard touchdown run with 1:14 left and a successful two-point conversion gave Steubenville Catholic Central a 36-35 win over Newark Catholic in the Division VI state semifinal.
Following Kuczynski's touchdown, the Crusaders (11-3) lined up to attempt an extra point, which would have tied the game at 35. But the Crusaders snapped the ball to holder Greg Ashnead, who ran around the left side for the two-point conversion and the win.
Zach McPherson gained 123 yards on 23 carries for Newark Catholic (10-4).
Delphos St. John's 31,Bascom Hopewell-Loudon
TIFFIN -- In the other Div. VI semifinal, Andrew DeWitt rushed for 130 yards and had touchdown runs of 1 and 49 yards to lead St. John's.
Delphos St. John's (13-2) scored the first 31 points of the game. Nick Johnson ran for 105 yards on 10 carries, including a 60-yard TD run in the third quarter. He also completed 3 of 3 passes for 74 yards, including a 47-yard TD pass to Jeff Ostendorf in first.
Hopewell-Loudon (13-1) had just 220 yards of total offense. Adam Kessler rushed for 81 yards on 26 carries.
Div. I
OXFORD -- Frank Morand intercepted a pass in the end zone with 44 seconds left to preserve a lead and Cincinnati St. Xavier hung on to defeat Hilliard Davidson 17-10.
Morand's interception off Wildcats' quarterback Connor Dietz came on a fourth-and-11 play from the Bomber's own 23-yard line.
Chris Cionni had a 2-yard TD run for the Bombers (14-0).
Donnie Curtis had a 73-yard TD pass to Joe Ciamacco for the Wildcats (13-1).
