JACKSON-MILTON
Coach: Eric Whitmer (3rd season, 131-93).
2004-05 record: 10-12.
Who's gone: Megan Whitmer (8.1 points per game. 5.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists).
Who's back: Juniors Carrie Fiol (PG), Jessica Balent (F), Elizabeth Hughes (F); sophomores: Jillian Adams (G), Scarlett Chepke (F).
Who's new: Alex Wiseman (5-10, Soph., C).
Outlook: Excellent depth and a strong work ethic will be the keys to the Bluejays' success. There defensive rebounding needs to improve.
LOWELLVILLE
Coach: Tony Matisi (8th season, 100-63)
2004-05 record: 22-4
Who's gone: Amanda Nero (first-team all-Ohio the past two years); Sara Porter; Dana Donatelli; Julie Peterson.
Who's back: Kaitlin McCarthy (5-7, Jr., G); Kristen Pallozzi (5-8, Jr., G); Allison Grapevine (6-1, Soph., F).
Who's new: Jacque Schrader (5-6, Jr., F); Candace Kamensky (5-7, Soph., F); Whitney Palumbo (5-4, Soph., G); Stephanie Yankle (5-8, Jr., F).
Outlook: The Rockets are very young and have little depth. McCarthy, a first team all-league selection last season, is the top returner. The Rockets will try to use their team speed to play a full-court game.
MCDONALD
Coach: Rob Hilbun (5th season, 40-50).
2004-05 record: 15-9.
Who's gone: Michelle Krumpak (honorable mention all-league); Emily Strohmeyer.
Who's back: Ashleigh Tondo (5-9, Sr., F); Amy Dolsak (6-0, Sr., F); Ashshena Stephens (5-7, Sr.); Tomisa Sangregorio (5-3, Sr.); Courtney Vitullo (5-6, Sr.).
Who's new: Alyssa Krumpak (5-2, Jr.); Samantha Thomas (5-4, Jr.); Cassie Garland (5-6, Soph.).
Outlook: Probably the favorite to win the league. Tondo was a first-team all-league, all-district and all-county selection, averaging 20 points and seven rebounds per game. Dolsak, a first-team all-county and all-league player, averaged 10 points per game. The Blue Devils will count on their shooting and experience to be successful but must improve on defense.
MINERAL RIDGE
Coach: Jerry Postlethwait (12th season, 136-88)
2004-05 record: 3-18.
Who's back: Rachael Siler (6-1, Sr., C); Abbey Kiger (5-8, Sr., C); Kara Goche (5-3, Sr., F); Julie Buckner (5-8, Sr., F); Sarah Garland (5-0, Jr., G); Elyse Hawout (5-6, Jr., F); Heather Reinhart (5-6, Soph., G/F); Nicole Honsaker (5-5, Soph., F).
Who's new: Megan Ault (5-8, Soph., C).
Outlook: The Rams return eight letterwinners as they try to improve on last season's record. Postlethwait, after two years at Niles, returns to Mineral Ridge, where he previously had coached for 11 seasons.
SOUTH RANGE
Coach: David Owen (first season)
2004-05 record: 9-11, 6-6 ICL.
Who's gone: Michelle Pingley (first team all-league); Brittany Oliver, Kaylin Lean.
Who's back: Cindy Schuler (5-7, F); Heather Stacy (5-6, G); Annie Semko (5-11, F); Kelcie Witmer (5-4, G).
Who's new: Autumn Carter (5-7, Soph., G); Lynn O'Connell (5-8, Sr., F); Kayla Witmer (5-4, Jr., G); Jordynne Dunn (5-6, Jr., G).
Outlook: The Raiders will rely on their athleticism and speed to overcome a lack of size.
SPRINGFIELD
Coach: Sandi Kohler (13th season, 172-68).
2004-05 record: 16-5.
Who's gone: Lindsay Johnson (first-team all-league the past three seasons); Angelina Fiumara (first-team all-league).
Who's back: Chelsea Quimby, Christy Warren, Samantha Cavalier, Mindy Ritzler, Joanne Dick.
Who's new: Whitney Yaeger (5-11, Soph.); Brittany Chamberlain (6-1, Soph.).
Outlook: The Tigers lack a true scorer but have good size and depth heading into the season.
WESTERN RESERVE
Coach: Kim Clark (2nd season)
2004-05 record: 5-16.
Who's gone: Sara Kutsko (honorable mention all-league).
Who's back: Saleena Niehaus (5-8, Sr., G); Lainey Kekic (5-10, Jr., G); McKenzie Mowery (5-7, Jr., G); Alex Rathburn (5-10, Jr., F).
Who's new: Melissa Burky (5-6, Fr., G).
Outlook: The Blue Devils have a lot of experience at guard but depth could be a problem.
