EX-ROCKER GARY GLITTER REMAINS JAILED IN VIETNAM

Ex-rocker Gary Glitterremains jailed in Vietnam
VUNG TAU, Vietnam -- Vietnam will detain former British glam rocker Gary Glitter for three months while authorities complete investigations into a suspected child sex abuse case, a prosecutor announced Friday.
Glitter, 61, whose real name is Paul Francis Gadd, has been held in detention since Nov. 19. He was stopped at Ho Chi Minh City's international airport as he was trying to leave the country amid allegations he had committed lewd acts with minors at his rented home in Vung Tau.
Glitter, who has denied all allegations, has not been charged with any crime.
His lawyer, Le Thanh Kinh, said he is still working on getting his client released on bail. Police can extend the detention period if they choose.
Police have gathered enough evidence to accuse Glitter of crimes, and prosecutors have approved initiating criminal proceedings against him, said Nguyen Van Xung, deputy prosecutor for Ba Ria-Vung Tau province.
Glitter, who rose to fame as a glam rocker in the 1970s, is perhaps best known for "Do You Wanna Touch Me [Oh Yeah]" and "Rock and Roll [Part 2]," which is still frequently played at sporting events.
Jolie and Pitt in Pakistanto visit quake victims
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan -- Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt made a low-key visit to earthquake-ravaged northern Pakistan, U.N. refugee agency officials said.
Jolie, a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations, traveled with Pitt to a village in a remote valley on an unannounced trip.
The pair flew aboard a helicopter that brought food, blankets and plastic sheets to improve shelters, said Jack Redden, spokesman for the U.N. refugee agency.
He said that Pitt and Jolie, who arrived in the country Thursday, also visited the hard-hit town of Balakot and a tent camp for quake survivors who lost their homes in the Oct. 8 quake that killed more than 87,000 people, the vast majority in Pakistan.
Notable death
Joe Pinckney, an artist known for his paintings of the Gullah culture, has died. He was 75.
Pinckney died Tuesday from kidney failure, his daughter Ellice Lewis said. The Gullah descended from African slaves who settled on isolated sea islands and marshy areas from Jacksonville, Fla., to Wilmington, N.C., in the 19th century.
Pinckney painted his first Gullah piece in the late 1970s, becoming interested in the subject when he heard native islanders talk about how the culture developed because it was isolated.
