YOUNGSTOWN School invites special-needs students to its fifth annual Winterfest Dance

This year's dance will be at the Mahoning Country Club in Girard.
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Rayen School has invited special-needs students from across Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties to its Winterfest Dance on Dec. 7.
The annual event, now in its fifth year, is sponsored by The Rayen School's Special Education Units. It will be at the Mahoning Country Club at 710 Liberty St., Girard.
The dance is open to all high-school-age students with multiple, orthopedic and/or developmental disabilities.
About the event
The cost is $7, and that includes dinner. The goal is to give special-needs students a fun-filled night and an opportunity to socialize with their peers from other communities.
Rayen staff, administration, security and student helpers will serve as chaperones, and students attending the dance should be dropped off at the country club between 4:30 and 5 p.m.
Parents aren't permitted to attend.
Dinner will be from 5 to 6 p.m. and dancing is from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
The names for the "Winterfest Dance" court will be randomly selected from each school's ticket box, and a "Snow Princess" and "Snow Prince" will be randomly selected from the members of the court.
The dance is semiformal, and students shouldn't wear sweat pants, sweat shirts, jeans, shorts, school uniforms or tennis shoes.
Reservations are required and can be made by calling Jeanne Constantino at The Rayen School at (330) 744-8550 or (330) 744-8555, or by faxing the school at (330) 480-1912.
