Teacher charged with having sex with student

MANTUA, Ohio (AP) -- A high school science teacher accused of having sex with a female student faces charges, even though police say he waited until the girl turned 18.
State law bars a teacher from having sex with a student at the same school, Police Chief Harry Buchert said.
Crestwood High School teacher Stephen Pandur, 25, is to be arraigned Monday on three counts of sexual battery. He could get up to 15 years in prison.
Buchert said Pandur flirted with the girl but didn't break any laws until recently.
"We knew about a kiss" that happened before the girl turned 18, "but nothing that would raise to this level," the chief said.
The Crestwood school district, which called police Nov. 14, assigned Pandur to work at home pending the outcome of the investigation.
Pandur was indicted Tuesday, eight days after police were notified. He does not have a listed telephone number.
Mantua is about 20 miles northeast of Akron.
