THIEL vs. BRIDGEWATER
Where: Alumni Stadium, Greenville, Pa.When: Noon.Records: Thiel 11-0, Bridgewater 9-1.Scouting report: Thiel defeated Johns Hopkins, 28-3, while Bridgewater beat Carnegie Mellon, 30-21, in first-round games. The Thiel-Bridgewater winner will advance to meet the Wesley (10-1) - Mary Hardin-Baylor (9-1) winner on Dec. 3 in a quarterfinal. Thiel is in the playoffs for the first time. Senior WR Brandon Chambers (Farrell) caught three TD passes from senior QB Darrell Satterfield covering 57, 53 and 26 yards to pace Thiel while RB Dan Hess scored on a 4-yard run and sophomore PK Sammy Koyl kicked four extra points. Chambers finished with a season-high 208 yards on 10 catches, and his three TDS to give him a school-record 1,320 yards for the season, surpassing Jim Kick (1,147 in 1981). It was Chambers' ninth school record. Chambers also has 83 receptions and 16 TDs for the year. Satterfield finished with 320 yards on 19-of-30 passing and the three TDs while leading the offensive unit to 449 total yards (129 rushing, 320 passing). Freshman TB Dan Hess rushed for 147 yards and his TD. Junior CB Steve Boyle (Howland) sparkled on defense by stopping a pair of Johns Hopkins scoring opportunities late in the fourth quarter with interceptions at the Tomcats' 9- ands 17-yard lines. Thiel's defense was outstanding with three sacks and four interceptions while limiting Johns Hopkins to just 26 rushing yards and 142 total yards. Senior SS Shaun Jackson led the Tomcats' defense with eight total stops and an interception while senior OL Aaron Zane (Greenville) and senior outside linebacker Tom Wozniak each added six total stops. Sophomore DE Chris Lorber, junior DT Logan Malie (Sharon) and senior DE Kevin Strouse each came up with one sack. Thiel expanded its school record for most wins in one season to 11 (the previous record was seven). The Tomcats also previously won the PAC title (6-0) for the first time since 1972.

MOUNT UNION vs. AUGUSTANA (ILL.)
Where: Mount Union Stadium, Alliance.When: Noon.Records: Both teams are 10-1.Scouting report: Mount Union defeated Mount St. Joseph, 49-6, while Augustana beat Lakeland, 49-22, in first-round games last Saturday. The winner will advance to meet the Capital (9-2) - Wabash (11-0) winner on Dec. 3 in a quarterfinal. MUC has a 2-2 record all-time against Augustana, winning their last meeting in the 2001 playoffs, 32-7. MUC QB Mike Jorris passed for 225 yards against Mount St. Joseph to climb into the No. 3 spot on the school's all-time single-season passing list with 2,885 yards. Freshman TD Nate Kmic rushed for career highs of 157 yards and three TDs. He has 336 rushing yards and nine TDs this year. Junior RB Aaron Robinson rushed for 85 yards to eclipse 1,000 yards for the season while senior WR Scott Casto has 1,104 yards receiving. QB Mike Jorris has completed 185 of 279 passes for 28 TDs and nine interceptions. Ross Watson (Austintown Fitch), a senior DB for Mount Union, has nine interceptions for 89 yards and needs one more interception to tie the school record of 10 shared by Perry Bourn (1968) and Bruce Ensminger (1951). Watson is tied for the interceptions lead in the OAC with Rusty Midlam of Ohio Northern, and he also has seven pass breakups and 22 tackles. Watson recently was named to the All-Ohio Athletic Conference first team, after making the second team last year. Tom Manning (Ursuline), a senior offensive lineman for the Purple Raiders, was selected to the 2005 All-OAC second team. Manning was a first-team selection last year. In all, Mount Union had 14 players who gained All-OAC this year, including three other first-team picks won OAC Special Award honors. They are: Casto, who won the Ed Sherman Award for Most Outstanding Receiver; Jason Lewis, a senior OL (Mike Gregory Award as the Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman); and Mike Gibbons, a senior LB (Bill Edwards Award as Most Outstanding Linebacker). Other first-team selections were: Robinson; Jesse Wells, a senior DE; and Buddy Wolf, a senior DE. Joining Manning on the All-OAC second team are: Pierre Garcon, sophomore WR; Jeff Goodwill, senior OL; Kelechi Ibeh, senior RB; and Justin Stickley, junior DE.
