Museum features nostalgic display of Raggedy Ann dolls

The museum also features a display on the Underground Railroad.
WARREN -- The Sutliff Museum, on the second floor of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Avenue N.W., is featuring a display of Raggedy Ann dolls and related items through the end of the year.
The faces of Raggedy Ann and her brother, Andy, are far more familiar than the face of their creator, Johnny Gruelle. He was an artist, illustrator, writer, and toy designer who left behind a legacy of characters; some, unlike Raggedy Ann, have faded into history.
The owner of these nostalgic display items has been collecting a variety of Raggedy Ann dolls and related items for a number of years. The collection boasts "useful" items with the doll's image such as a calculator, stapler, pencil sharpener, picture frame, tea set and much more.
Sutliff Museum tours are welcome by appointment at any day or time. The museum is accessible, free and open to the public from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. A new permanent exhibit on local connections to the Underground Railroad is part of the museum offerings.
For more information or to schedule a tour, call (330) 399-8807, ext. 121 or (330) 394-9989.
The museum was established by a bequest of Miss Phebe T. Sutliff. She left the residue of her estate to a private group, the Warren Library Association, requesting that they establish and maintain a museum in honor of her parents, Levi Sutliff and Phebe L. Marvin Sutliff.
