Locally produced holiday show planned

KENT -- A "Christmas Music Spectacular" presented by Larry Wilgus will be featured at 6 p.m. Saturday on PBS 45 and 49, with rebroadcasts at 5 p.m. Sunday and 10 p.m. Wednesday.
Taped at the Akron Civic Theatre, the holiday variety show features 200 area performers, including a dance troupe, a live orchestra, a 140-voice festival chorus, bagpipers, marching toy soldiers and much more.
The television special airs just ahead of the production's 20th-anniversary appearance at the Akron Civic Theatre, to be held at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 9 -11. Matinee performances on Saturday and Sunday begin at 3 p.m. For ticket information, call the Akron Civic Theatre box office at (330) 253-2488. Music director Larry Wilgus, a graduate of Kent State University and a former teacher in the Canton City Schools, is also the producer of the "Christmas Music Spectacular" television special.
