3 rob convenience store, injure 1 employee

YOUNGSTOWN -- Police are searching for three men who held up the Gas Mart at 2325 South Ave. and injured an employee. The men escaped with cigarettes and about $1,000 in cash in a trash bag around 11 p.m. Tuesday.
John A. Jordan, 65, of South Avenue, was treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center after police said he was either struck in the back by a bullet or shrapnel after one of the men shot at him.
Jordan and another employee told police three masked men armed with pistols and an AK-47-style assault rifle entered the store and demanded money. Two men were wearing Halloween masks and the third had a dark cloth over his face.
Police said Jordan came out of the store cooler to find the robbery in progress, and when he turned to run back into the cooler, one of the men fired at him. Police said the bullet first struck the cooler and then Jordan's upper back.
