Woman faces charges of having sex with minor

The woman has two teenage children.
MASSILLON, Ohio (AP) -- A woman who met a 14-year-old boy through an online role-playing game is accused of having sex with him after traveling across the country to meet him.
The boy's mother, who gathered information from her son's computer, provided police and the FBI with information used to arrest the woman. The name of the boy and his mother have not been disclosed.
Julie Ann Welborn, 38, of Camano Island, Wash., was arrested Monday on felony counts of importuning and unlawful sex with a minor. She is accused of having sex with the boy in October. Police believe she was planning to move to Ohio along with her two children.
Welborn appeared Tuesday in Massillon Municipal Court before Judge Richard Kettler. A hearing was set for Nov. 30. She remained in Stark County Jail. Her children, ages 13 and 15, were placed in temporary foster care while their father was notified.
Arrested
Welborn was arrested at a Red Roof Inn in Jackson Township, about 50 miles south of Cleveland, by an FBI and Internet crimes police task force.
"We know they had sex and met on more than one occasion," Massillon police detective Bobby Grizzard said.
He said the two communicated online in a game in which they played roles and could send instant messages to each other.
He said Welborn told officers "she is really in love with him." A voicemail message was left Tuesday at a telephone listing for Welborn.
Since the local task force was formed three years ago, about 60 arrests have been made involving people suspected of using the Internet to lure children into sex, said Richard Denholm, supervisory FBI agent in Canton. Usually, the FBI poses as a child online and sets up a meeting. All the previous suspects were male.
Denholm said the task force is part of the FBI's Innocent Images national initiative that focuses on people willing to travel across state lines to have sex with a minor.
Although not Internet crimes, nationally two other women have recently gotten into trouble because of sexual involvement with boys.
In Tampa, Fla., a teacher pleaded guilty Tuesday to having sex with a 14-year-old student, and in Gainesville, Ga., a 37-year-old woman was charged with child molestation after marrying her son's 15-year-old friend.
