Task force to enforce seat belt, DUI laws

If you are thinking about drinking and driving over the Thanksgiving holiday, or not wearing your seat belts, you better think again.
The Mahoning County Operating a Vehicle Impaired Task Force will be out in force to remind all holiday travelers, drivers and passengers to always buckle up -- every trip, every time and to not drink and drive during holiday celebrations.
The task force will have increased enforcement during the Thanksgiving holiday, with an emphasis on those driving between 9 tonight and 1 a.m. Thursday morning.
Police agencies from multiple county police agencies will have additional officers on patrol, enforcing a zero tolerance for those drinking and driving and those not wearing their seat belts.
Heavy patrols by multiple county police agencies also will be conducted throughout this evening.
Funding for the extra patrols is available from federal and state grants.
