Police share few details on apparent homicide

The victim, a 76-year-old retiree, kept pretty much to himself, police say.
WEATHERSFIELD -- Weathersfield Township police are releasing little information about the death of a 76-year-old man that they say is a homicide.
John P. Crocker was discovered inside his home at 1189 Emerson Ave., just south of Niles, Monday afternoon.
Police Chief Joseph P. Consiglio and the Trumbull County Coroner's Office said the death is a homicide, but neither would discuss the apparent cause of death. Consiglio said Crocker was found inside his home at about 4:30 p.m. by his stepson, Kenneth Watkins of Howland.
The chief explained that Watkins checked on Crocker daily. He would not say if the house was burglarized nor in what room Crocker was found.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation processed the scene for evidence Monday.
An autopsy was conducted Tuesday at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
Crocker, a retiree, pretty much stayed to himself in his one-story home, Consiglio said.
One neighbor was home Tuesday but didn't want to talk about Crocker. The house was left with yellow evidence tape around it.
