National leader of VFW to visit local post

WASHINGTONVILLE -- James R. Mueller, the newly elected national commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, will visit VFW Post 5532 at 12:30 p.m. Friday as part of a three-day, 12-city tour of Ohio beginning that day.
Mueller will brief local VFW posts on the progress of the organization's grass-roots efforts to increase Veterans Affairs spending, provide sufficient long-term VA health care, and how the VFW is supporting members of the military, National Guard, reserves and their families.
Mueller, of Missouri, was elected commander at the VFW's 106th national convention in August. He is an Army veteran who served in Vietnam from 1966 to 1968 with the 446th Transportation Company, 57th Transportation Battalion.
