Man accused of robbing woman
BOARDMAN -- A 21-year-old Wolosyn Circle man will return to Mahoning County Court here next year on a robbery charge.
Jeremy Everhart appeared in court Tuesday after police arrested him Monday evening. He is accused of taking a woman's purse. His pretrial is set for Jan. 10.
The victim, a 65-year-old Struthers woman, told police that she had arrived shortly after 6 p.m. at Wal-Mart, Doral Drive, and was locking her car when a car pulled up behind her and a man, later identified as Everhart, started walking toward her.
He grabbed her purse, which was on her arm, and ripped it off, nearly causing her to fall, the victim told police.
The woman said she wasn't injured and gave a description of the man.
Police stopped a car driven by Everhart driving north on Lake Park Drive. Both the car and the driver matched the description given by the victim and a witness.
Police found the woman's purse at Pat Catan's Craft Center on South Avenue after Everhart told them that he threw it out of his car in the store's lot.
