Pats without Belichick due to father's funeral

The Patriots are without coach Bill Belichick, whose father, Steve Belichick, died Saturday night at age 86.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., where the senior Belichick was an assistant coach for 33 years. Assistant head coach Dante Scarnecchia is in charge until Belichick returns.
The elder Belichick, who was an assistant football coach at Navy for 33 years through 1989, died of heart failure. His son coached the Patriots to a 24-17 win Sunday over the New Orleans Saints, then left Foxborough, Mass., leaving Scarnecchia in charge of preparations for next Sunday's game at Kansas City.
