Demolition of 2 Struthers buildings continues

STRUTHERS -- Demolition crews were demolishing two buildings Monday at the southeast corner of South Bridge and Liberty streets that were destroyed by fire Saturday morning.
Safety Service Director John Sveda said a state fire marshal examined the site Sunday, but is not expected to determine a cause for some time.
He said demolition and clean up should be completed by Wednesday.
On Saturday, Struthers Fire Chief Harold L. Milligan Jr. said the blaze, which destroyed the Wagon Wheel Bar and Restaurant at 90 S. Bridge St., and the Struthers Athletic Club next to it, started at the rear of the Wagon Wheel building.
The roof of a building at 92 S. Bridge, which also abutted the Wagon Wheel on the other side and houses the Sulmona Valley Club, was damaged, but the interior was not severely damaged. A Sulmona member said Saturday the club would repair the facility.
It is uncertain if the owners of the Wagon Wheel and Athletic Club would rebuild.
If they do not, Sveda said the city would try to find occupants for the space, adding that it is a good location.
