YOUNGSTOWN -- The Chevrolet Centre is built and operating but change orders to the facility keep coming to the city from contractors.
The city's board of control is expected Wednesday to consider $70,054 worth of change orders to the city-owned facility.
Of the 11 change orders to be considered, 10 increase the cost of the project. The one reduction is $22,785 from Roger Kreps Drywall & amp; Plastering, a Boardman company that installed drywall and metal panels at the building.
However, Kreps is also seeking two increases, totaling $4,990, from the board Wednesday. The board increased Kreps' contract by $43,406 on Nov. 10 through change orders.
The other eight change order increases are:
UFive from Komar Plumbing of Boardman, the company that did the arena's plumbing work, totaling $73,273.
UThree from Cherokee Glass, location not available, for $14,576. The company provided windows and glass for the Chevrolet Centre.
Totals
If the 11 requests are approved Wednesday, the board would have approved 117 change orders just since late September. Those change orders total $888,317.
City officials didn't have the cost of all change orders at the facility including those made before late September, but expect to receive that amount from its construction manager sometime next week.
There should be $250,000 left over from the facility's budget to pay for a marquee on the building, said city Finance Director Bozanich said. The original design of the facility didn't include a marquee.
The facility opened in late October and is projected to cost $45.38 million. The final cost of the project won't be available until about December, city officials say.
