Some facts about Teen Challenge:
Teen Challenge is a one-year, faith-based, drug and alcohol program for men, women and teens who have life-controlling problems.
Teen Challenge was founded in 1958 by the Rev. David Wilkerson. He established the first center in Brooklyn, N.Y., to minister gang members there.
Teen Challenge is a nonprofit organization. Funding comes from donations.
There are 170 centers across the country.
The Teen Challenge program in Youngstown was started in 1979.
The Youngstown center is at 1622 Mahoning Ave. Its hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The center's help line, (330) 779-0099, is available 24 hours, seven days a week. The center's Web site is www.teenchallengeyoungstown.org.
