"The Poseidon Adventure" (8 p.m., ABC): One of the first and most successful of the disaster movies that prevailed in the 1970s gets updated in this new version. This time, it's terrorism that dooms the cruise ship; expect plenty of special effects. The cast includes Steve Guttenberg, Rutger Hauer, Alex Kingston and Peter Weller.
"Little Ice Age, Big Chill" (8 p.m., History Channel): It doesn't take much in the way of natural change to cause big problems for the human race. For about 500 years starting in the 14th century, Europe and North America suffered through "the Little Ice Age." Though average temperatures dropped no more than seven degrees, that was enough to cause widespread flooding, famine and disease.
"Earth to America!" (8 p.m., TBS): This comedy special aims to increase awareness of environmental issues and features a large cast of big-name actors and comedians, including Jack Black, Cedric the Entertainer, Tom Hanks, Steve Martin, Wanda Sykes and Robin Williams. Taped Thursday in Las Vegas.
"Snow Wonder" (9 p.m., CBS): Mary Tyler Moore is among the stars of this new movie that tells five separate stories of people affected by a seemingly magical Christmas Eve snowstorm. With Camryn Manheim, Jennifer Esposito and Jason Priestley.
"Eulogy" (9 p.m., Lifetime): A death in a dysfunctional family brings together three feuding generations who will have to try to get along, briefly. This 2004 movie is making its TV debut and stars Ray Romano, Debra Winger and Hank Azaria.
"Explorer: Nightmare in Jamestown" (8 p.m., National Geographic): The Thanksgiving Day celebration has its roots in the settlement of the colony at Plymouth, Mass. -- but more than a decade earlier, English settlers had established a colony at Jamestown, with a much different outcome. Archaeologists and forensic experts have unearthed evidence of murder, starvation and disease -- along with a mysterious hero -- at the colony established in Virginia in 1607. This documentary looks at modern-day clues to what life was like in the 17th-century English colony.
