XNEW SPRINGFIELD -- The marriage of Elizabeth Barger, 1346 Weathervane Lane, Akron, and Roger Schmid, 338 Afton Ave., Boardman, was solemnized by the Rev. Ron Wamer at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 14 at New Springfield Church of God.
Parents of the bride are Carol and Ed Vinkler, 5249 E. Pine Lake Road, and Carl and Sandy Barger, 3518 Glenmere Drive, Youngstown, and the groom is a son of Roger and Kathy Schmid, also of 338 Afton Ave.
After a reception at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Hall, Youngstown, the couple left for Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. They live at the Akron address.
Pink and crystal accents enhanced the bride's strapless white A-line gown.
Honor attendants were Crystal Rafferty and Rachel Timlin. Bridesmaids were Jessica Novak, Christina Bochert, Tracey Schmid and Amy Schmid, and junior bridesmaid was Ashli Vinkler. The attendants wore maroon gowns. Flower girl was Mariah Vinkler.
Jason Schneider performed the duties of best man, and groomsmen were Gino LaRocca, Craig Barger, Rick Mashiska, Dom LaRocca, and Tony Esposite. Junior groomsman was Ryan Pollifrone, and ring bearer was Nick Pollifrone.
The bride, a caseworker with Summit County Children Services in Akron, graduated from Youngstown State University with a bachelor's degree in social work.
The groom earned a bachelor's degree in business administration at YSU and is a marketing supervisor with Sam's Club in Fairlawn.
