Trials set for 2 who are accused of making threats to area judges

YOUNGSTOWN -- Jury trials have been set in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court for a city man and a Campbell woman, both of whom are charged with threatening two common pleas judges earlier this year.
Visiting Judge Thomas P. Curran of Cuyahoga County said that Nora K. Anthony, 56, of Coitsville Road in Campbell has been found competent to stand trial.
Anthony previously pleaded innocent to a charge of retaliation, a third-degree felony. She was accused of repeatedly threatening to "drive a white truck to the county courthouse and take out Judge [Maureen A.] Sweeney."
Anthony was overheard by another common pleas judge, Maureen A. Cronin, as well as a sergeant from the county sheriff's department and an employee of the common pleas court assignment office, police have said.
Anthony's trial is scheduled to begin Dec. 5. She could face from one to five years in prison.
Trial will begin Dec. 12 for Kenneth Favors, 51, of West Delason Avenue, who is charged with intimidation, retaliation and two counts of communications harassment for threats to Judge R. Scott Krichbaum and his wife.
The county sheriff's department said Favors was in county jail on a charge of breaking and entering when he placed two collect calls to Judge Krichbaum's home April 20. The judge's wife answered the phone both times.
If found guilty, Favors may be sentenced up to 11 years in prison for intimidation, retaliation and one of the two telecommunications harassment charges, all of which are felonies. The other harassment charge is a misdemeanor with a maximum sentence of six months in the county jail.
