Official files suit against woman who wants junkyard on property

WARREN -- Vienna Township's zoning inspector sought a preliminary injunction in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court to stop a township woman from using her residentially zoned property as a junkyard.
Zoning Inspector Michael A. Penrose filed a lawsuit against Barbara George, 4419 Mary Ellen Drive. The case is assigned to Judge Peter Kontos.
The suit says zoning regulations prohibit George from using the property as a junkyard, automobile graveyard or place for collection of scrap metal, paper, rags, glass or junk for salvage or storage.
It further states George is using the property in violation of these zoning laws, in such a manner that it is offensive and has become injurious to the health, comfort and property of the public and of the property owners around her.
It also states the property constitutes a nuisance and that the nuisance has caused and will continue to cause irreparable harm and damage to the township, its residents and property owners around her.
The suit requests a preliminary and permanent injunction against George from using the property in violation of the township zoning regulations and state law.
A call to the George residence was not immediately returned.
