KINGSTON, N.Y. (AP) -- A rally organized by a white supremacist radio talk-show host Saturday drew about 50 supporters and 100 counter-demonstrators, but they were outnumbered by police.
Hal Turner invited the Ku Klux Klan and similar groups to help protest recent attacks on white students by black students at Kingston High School, about 60 miles south of Albany.
Police have said the attacks were not motivated by race.
Police had 175 to 200 officers at the event, which lasted about an hour, said Detective Michael Turck. He said he did not know of any arrests.
Turner, of North Bergen, N.J., had earlier estimated the city would have to pay $100,000 in overtime for security.
"We'll come back again and again until we bankrupt this city," Turner told the crowd.
Mayor Jim Sottile said race relations in Kingston are no different than in any other community.
"It's been blown so far out of proportion, it's very sad," he said.
