Geneva College falters, 36-35



GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- For the fifth time in the past six weeks, Geneva's football team played a one-point game.
Appearing in the NAIA playoffs for the first time since 1997, the Golden Tornadoes couldn't stop an 80-yard drive by Georgetown after they had taken a 35-29 lead.
C.R. Rohrbough capped the Tigers' long march by tallying on a 5-yard touchdown with 1 minute, 47 seconds remaining Saturday, as they posted a 36-35 victory.
Geneva gave one of its best efforts of the season as it jumped out 14-0, but Georgetown (9-2), which had averaged 41 points throughout the regular season, responded with 26 unanswered points.
Back came Geneva (8-4) to once again take leads of 27-26 and 35-29.
Sciarro leads Geneva
Quarterback Justin Sciarro led Geneva as he connected on 12-for-23 passes for 186 yards and three touchdowns, two of them to Bamfield Harmon for 6 and 22 yards.
Running back Brandon Nathan gained 70 yards rushing, including a 1-yard TD run go give the Golden Tornadoes the early lead.
Georgetown quarterback Jeff Smith was 16-of-28 for 227 yards and a pair of TDs.
