Beaver Twp. moves to buy property

NORTH LIMA -- Beaver Township is moving ahead with its plans to buy property next to the township safety building on West South Range Road for township building needs.
Trustees, at a meeting earlier this week, moved to buy the property, 0.69 acre at 579 W. South Range Road, for $110,000, contingent upon whether the land is deemed appropriate for construction.
The township is waiting on the results of tests of several soil samples collected at the site. The property owner's name was not released at the meeting. Trustees have been discussing buying the property to either build an addition to the fire department, or to build new administration offices.
The township rents its office space at South Range Plaza for $1,260 a month.
In other news, the township is pursuing the development of a billing agreement with Columbiana Emergency Management Services. Essentially, if an agreement were reached, Columbiana EMS would bill parties served by Beaver Township's emergency departments.
The township will conduct its next monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 13 at the administration offices.
