Meeting to focus on creating forests

CANFIELD -- Northeastern Ohio Forestry Association will conduct a meeting at 7 p.m. today at the Mill Creek MetroParks' Mahoning County Experimental & amp; Educational Farm for anyone thinking about planting trees to create a forest.
Jim Elze, service forester for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, will present the topic covering all aspects of planting from choosing the site and species of trees to maintaining them after planting.
Elze also will cover costs and U.S. Department of Agriculture grants available to landowners that can cover anywhere from 50 percent to 100 percent of out-of-pocket expenses.
