YOUNGSTOWN -- To celebrate tickets going on sale for the Disney on Ice production of "3 Jungle Adventures," children age 12 and under that come to the Youngstown Convocation Center box office between 11 a.m. and noon Saturday dressed as their favorite Disney character will receive a free ticket to either the Dec. 28 or Dec. 29 show.
This ice spectacular visits Youngstown for the first time for eight performances at the new Convocation Center. General admission tickets go on sale Friday, with tickets ranging from $14 to $40.
The show features music and adventures of characters from three Disney movies: "Jungle Book," "Tarzan" and "The Lion King."
Shows will be Dec. 28 and 29 at 7 p.m.; Dec. 30 at 3 and 7 p.m.; Dec. 31 at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.; and Jan. 1 at 11 and 3 p.m. Tickets are available at the box office, www.gettix.net or by calling (866) I-GETTIX (866-443-8849).
Seniors variety show
NILES -- Seniors on Parade, a local group directed by Jean Park, is presenting a variety show at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Niles Middle School.
Tickets are $7. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Call (330) 545-6281 or (330) 652-7281 for tickets.
Seniors on Parade has been performing annually for more than 10 years. Joe Pazilo will act as master of ceremonies as well as presenting a skit and two vocal selections.
Dancer joins theater
PITTSBURGH -- Adrienne Misko, a 2001 graduate of Poland Seminary High School, has joined Dance Alloy Theater of Pittsburgh as an apprentice.
Misko graduated in June from Ohio University with a bachelor's degree in dance performance and choreography.
Misko began training at age 14 at Ballet Western Reserve in Youngstown.
She has performed at Hunter College in New York, the St. Louis Art Fair with Modern American Dance Company and at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
Benefit performance
HOWLAND -- The Great Lakes Festival Ballet will hold a benefit performance for Abigail's Place at 3 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Howland branch of the Butler Institute of American Art.
Abigail's Place is a homeless shelter for women in Warren. The Great Lakes Festival Ballet is a nonprofit organization in Warren.
The price of admission will be a new toy or a new pair of children's pajamas.
At the benefit, GLFB will perform the second act of "The Nutcracker," as well as other selections.
The Great Lakes Festival Ballet will perform "The Nutcracker" in its entirety at 7 p.m. Dec. 10 and 3 p.m. Dec. 11 at Powers Auditorium in Youngstown.
