YSU programs to focus on study abroad

YOUNGSTOWN -- Youngstown State University's Center for International Studies and Programs is holding some special events this week in recognition of International Education Week.
Barbara Nykiel-Herbert, YSU assistant professor of English, will speak at noon today in James Gallery of Kilcawley Center on the topic "All the Colors of the Rainbow: Developing Children's Literature in South Africa. "
The presentation is based on her 12-year involvement in literacy education in South Africa during the transition from apartheid to democracy.
On Wednesday, a forum on study-abroad opportunities will be at 11 a.m. in Room 2069 of Kilcawley Center. Steve Brown and Michelle Ocepek from CISP will talk about individual study-abroad opportunities. Ron Shaklee and students from the YSU honors geography class will present information about group study abroad.
