Elderly woman injuredin burglary of her home
YOUNGSTOWN -- An elderly South Side woman was treated at Forum Health Beeghly Medical Center for injuries she received after a man broke into her residence and threw her TV at her.
The 82-year-old Humbolt Avenue woman told police she awoke around 1:15 Sunday morning to the sound of someone pounding on her back door. When she answered, she saw a man in her living room holding her TV, a police report shows.
The victim screamed, and the man tossed the set at her, injuring her left arm, the report continues.
Police said they found the woman across the street bleeding from her left arm, and that the burglar had jumped out a front window after the attack and fled.
Officers noticed a rear basement window was open and a screen had been cut. They found a butter knife in the area that apparently was used to cut the screen, the report shows.
The woman was unable to provide a description of the burglar. The Boardman Police Department's K-9 unit was brought in but was unable to detect footprints, police said.
