"Penn & amp; Teller: Off the Deep End" (7 p.m., NBC): The oddball magicians take their act to the Caribbean, where they'll walk on water and promise to make a full-sized submarine, surrounded by more than 100 scuba divers, completely vanish. Someone needs to put these guys to work on the federal budget deficit.
"Desperate Housewives" (9 p.m., ABC): Guest-star alert: Soap opera big-shot Linda Dano drops by tonight. She plays the mother of Bree's smarmy suitor, George, and something tells us this is not going to be pretty. Meanwhile, Lynette and her husband learn more about their mysterious new neighbors.
"'Saturday Night Live' in the '80s" (9 p.m., NBC): The latest in what has become a long line of "SNL" retrospectives, this one whisks viewers back to a decade that featured such standouts as Eddie Murphy, Billy Crystal, Dana Carvey, Phil Hartman, Jon Lovitz and Dennis Miller, and a time when the show was actually funny.
"Gilmore Girls" marathon (noon, ABC Family): Seven episodes shown back-to back -- each one about Lorelai and Rory's dating adventures and misadventures -- provide an alternative to football.
"Shadows in the Sun" (7 p.m., ABC Family): An aspiring writer (Joshua Jackson) meets his literary hero (Harvey Keitel) in Tuscany and discovers that both of them are being held back by fear of failure. We're betting that they can learn from each other. Also starring in this new movie are Claire Forlani and John Rhys-Davies.
