YSU students will pair up with patients
YOUNGSTOWN -- A group of Youngstown State University students is teaming up with the Jessica Moorhead Foundation for Hope to provide a morning of fun for pediatric cancer patients at Tod Children's Hospital.
The students are in the public relations class at YSU and this is their class community service project. They will help the Foundation for Hope kick off its second annual Holiday Delights program by assisting with the "Penguin Holiday Treats Kickoff" on Wednesday at the DeBartolo Stadium Club at Stambaugh Stadium.
The pediatric cancer patients, their families and the students and some staff will meet from 8 to 11 a.m. for breakfast, group crafts and a dose of Penguin hospitality.
Pete the Penguin, the YSU mascot, will be there, and each patient will be paired with a public relations student to help them meet new friends and share the morning's activities.
Sponsors are donating funds for the event as well as goodies for gift baskets to be distributed to the children and their families.
