NEWTON FALLS -- Residents who live in Newton Falls or Newton Township who need assistance for the upcoming holidays should obtain an application at the Church Mouse Thrift Shop, 261/2 Broad St.
Income guidelines are used to determine need. The Thanksgiving deadline to apply for food assistance is Nov. 19 and the Christmas deadline to apply for food and toys is Dec. 15.

IEP training session
EAST FAIRFIELD -- The Guardian Angels Support Group will offer a training session on how to write an Individual Education Plan for special-needs children from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at East Fairfield United Methodist Church on state Route 558.
The session will be presented by Tina White from the Ohio Coalition for the Education of Children with Special Needs.
Participants should bring an IEP to work on, or come prepared to gather ideas for their child's IEP. Dinner will be served from 6 to 6:30 p.m., and child care is available.

Relay for Life meeting
YOUNGSTOWN -- The American Cancer Society's Campbell Relay for Life Committee will have a walk-through session at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The meeting will be at Organizacion Civica y Cultural Hispana Americana, 3660 Shirley Road, Youngstown.

Neighborhood Watch
AUSTINTOWN -- An Austintown Neighborhood Watch meeting has been set for 6:30 p.m. Monday at Tabernacle Evangelical Presbyterian Church meeting room, 2432 S. Raccoon Road.
All township residents and stakeholders are invited. The program will focus on home and personal security during the holidays.

Annual toy collection
SHARON, Pa. -- Sharon's annual light-up night will coincide with the kickoff of Sharon Rotary Club's annual toy drive.
Festivities will begin at 5:45 p.m. Thursday at the First National Bank parking lot with music by the Sharon High School band and choir, caroling, free hot chocolate, cider and candy for children, the traditional torch-lighting ceremony, a visit from Santa Claus and fireworks.
Toys will be collected through Dec. 15 and may be dropped off that night or at Mercer County Career Link, First National Bank of Pennsylvania, Golden Memories and Reyer's Shoe Store.
