Class of 10 completes nurse anesthetists program



The program is now accepting applications for the fall 2006 class.
YOUNGSTOWN -- The St. Elizabeth School for Nurse Anesthetists recently graduated 10 students from its nurse anesthetists program.
The two-year program, which is affiliated with Youngstown State University, provides graduates with a master of science degree in nursing.
All graduates are eligible to sit for the national certification exam to become registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs). They will then obtain a certificate of authority to practice as an advanced practice nurse in Ohio.
The graduates include:
UDon Allen of Campbell: Graduate of South Range High School, and received a bachelor's degree in education from Youngstown State University and a bachelor's degree in nursing from Excelsior College, Albany, N.Y.
UJon Paul Bruno of Campbell: Graduate of Campbell Memorial High School, and received a bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Cincinnati.
UMary DeRose of North Lima: Graduate of South Range High School, and graduated from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing and received a bachelor's degree in nursing from YSU.
UMichele King of Hubbard: Graduate of Hubbard High School, and received a bachelor's degree in nursing from YSU.
UMichelle Klacik of Austintown: Graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and the St. Elizabeth School of Nursing, and received a bachelor's degree in nursing from YSU.
UKirsten Nash of Austintown: Received a bachelor's of degree in nursing from Penn State University.
UBenita Birch Rice of Salem: Received a bachelor's degree in nursing from Carlow College, Pittsburgh.
UMary Beth Tondo of McDonald: Graduate of John F. Kennedy High School in Warren, and received a bachelor's degree in nursing from YSU.
UDeWayne Williams of Warren: Received a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Wright State University.
UBarry Haines of Columbus Grove, Ohio: Graduate of Bluffton High School, Bluffton, Ind., and received a bachelor's degree in nursing from Bowling Green State University.
The program is accepting applications for the fall 2006 class.
Applicants must be registered nurses with a bachelor's degree in nursing. They must also meet the requirements for admission to YSU and have a minimum of one year critical care experience as a registered nurse in either post anesthesia care, adult intensive care or a level 1 trauma center emergency department.
